December Workshop @ Lapan

Had such a wonderful Thursday yesterday…I am going ahead with just one student for morning and afternoon session. I really want to see if things work out by having my first workshop at LAPAN. With traffic that smooth sailing, day kind of pleasant and relax to me comparing to the adraneline rush normally I have handling more than 10 students per slot. I am pretty picky when it come to comfortable.

I always feel bless to have partner like beading.my or fabric fanatic and being comfortable and clique is so important to me. And I love having my workshop at different places too.. I enjoy to experience new places, and share that with my students.

The feedback for my workshop going to be low for Dec, and I expected that already. But I want to give it a try if LAPAN is a good venue to organise my workshop for the following 3 months . If not I can always collaborate with my previous venue.

I had queries, that public transport are difficult to hop in to Publika. But at the same time I am tie-up with duty schedule, and my time a bit limited for the following 3 months. Having this shop are such a commitment to me. I even quit my part  time job as a lecture which I like it so much just to make sure that this LAPAN collaboration project will be succeed, and definitely work harder than before. So far I feel the strong feeling of self belonging there. Being part of Art Row resident was pretty awesome.

I had enjoyable workshop yesterday, at the same time I analyse the best structure for my workshop too. Elaine C came all the way from Kelang…she is so easy to manage..she paint in her pass time, and her work of detail reflects to books she made. I am so glad in every workshop I held, I be able to meet a wonderful people..I can't be blessed than my current situation.

Elaine master piece; French Stitch & Long Stitch

Sawing time

Don't worry; no one actually get hurt at the end. We just follow the script given by our photographer
I cancelled my Friday workshop because I thought there are no feedback but then it was ok,  I could  concentrate on some custom orders at home …I just had read my email at night when I came back, that there are 3 last minute application came in.. But then I cancel it anyway.

I am so looking forward for Saturday. And If you happen to dropby on Sunday at FUYOH Bazaar, come to LAPAN, do say hello to me ya:)

Great Moment:)

I had such a wonderful time on Saturday & Sunday at Fabric Fanatics. My first time having my workshop at Fabric Fanatics new outlet in Summit USJ. Love Kelly's new shop, much bigger and spacious too. She sponsored fabric for the cover of my student books too. Beautiful collections...Thankssss Kelly. Check Fabric Fanatics out next to Toy City at the 1st floor.

21 students for the first day (14 July) and another 13 for Sunday(15 July) Some attending a single slot and some attending both slot. A different energy and such colourful characters I had in every workshop as always..and I just love to look at happy faces, satisfied with the creation they have made. That make all my hectic gone.

I am grateful to have Eita to help. Thank you so much for all the support from participants...till we meet again ya:)

Wonderful Day:)

I slept at 5am last night. I've got to finish up a proposal of corporate identity for a new client right away after my meeting at 11.30pm with another client. Last minute request, and as usual I just don't know how to say NO...haaaissssh.

Woke up 3 hours later to get ready to facilitate the children workshop at PETRONAS gallery. Looking at number of kiddos coming just make me so happy; 40 kids... I am teaching them the method of Paper Mache and then making a vase/labu sayung out of it and in between while waiting for Paper Mache to dry, I taught them how to make a bookmark and card using a weaving technique/anyaman tikar.

With the number of overwhelming participation, I am glad to had Eita to assist. Some doing well and some losing patient...but the climax of looking at their excited face poking the balloon at the end of workshop was just so overwhelming...LOL

The corporate identity's client called at the end of workshop saying that they like some of corporate identity I proposed and they have narrowed down the selection with some changes here and there...and that was just a great ending for such a very hectic day... and now I can sleep peacefully, before another day tomorrow that will fill with adrenaline rush...just like a happy roller coaster.

Good night all... have a sweet dreamzzzzZZZZZzzzz.

What a Great Day

I had a wonderful time at LittleSyam Book Binding Workshop yesterday. I did not realized how time flies.

I am too busy, and we don't even have group photo taken....adoooiiii:(

The workshop quite pack yesterday, since I don't have experience held workshop at the Lollipop House, I might estimated wrongly on the number that can fit into the space:P...I prefer to have more space to breath but we did managed to squeeze everyone in...phewwww. Chris and me had turned down many applications. I am enjoying every second of it and I hope each student feel that too. Chris such a good host, and I had a fulfilling session spreading the skill to all the lovely people.

complimentary, pouch bag from Chris...:)

Eita had assisted me throughout the workshop, and I am so grateful to have her around..And I ordered a yummy vege and chicken pie from her for the book binding session too...

Till we meet again folks:) luv //syam

Geetha, Inara, Patty, Nor, Ruzana, Kaylee, Rebekah, Adlin, Suraiya, Nik, Azzah, Shade & Dye eagerly came all the way to learn the new skill creating a hand bound book. Kaylee was the youngest student and at age 13, she was definitely really really good & focus:) The rest are doing pretty well even though there are some panicking happened here and there. Once everyone get the momentum, they are kind of quite and focus to finish up their own book:) I found that fascinating... quite mean they understand and really into it..
