Great Saturday:)

I had such a wonderful time yesterday, surrounding by an awesome people at LittleSyam Book Binding Workshop 14 at Re-Store, Publika Solaris Dutamas.

what they have in common? all of them are left handed:)
Total of 9 students attended the workshop, 3 for morning and 6 for afternoon. Some start with hiccup here and there and some have better understanding than the others. Some still confuse:P

Adlin & Adlina, the twin

With Vivian, an editor from Going Places
With Lee Ann
It was interesting to observe on how each of them react towards the same lesson. YES we had so much fun laughing loud, mixture of colorful characters. I had 4 designers (Leena, Zee, Lee Ann & Driv), an editor (Vivian), scientist (Adlin) that bring along her twin (Adlina) and husband (Zaidan), and 13 years old girl (Lily). Thanks for joining the workshop, you all so awesome:)

The Re-Store are amazing, better take many photos:)
Tara kucha
Thanks to Rom, from Re-store, that squeezing his amazing space for my workshop. Lina drop by in the afternoon after her Little Red Market (muck babe) and customers passing by curious and wondering what was happening in Re-Store. It was nice to be back at familiar atmosphere.

Being totally flat after the workshop, return home and ZZZZzzzZZ.

My sewing machine is not being kind to me, time to see doctor...but I've managed to finish the hand made doll for TVC before out for late lunch with Lina, Arissa & Syamil today. Here are how it looks like:)

Corporate Job

Went through old portfolio, looking back it was such an amazing experience that I've survived corporate world. I am glad I had opportunity to try out various jobs from advertising agency, theme park, corporate & government.

I missed friends I left and the breath taking view looking down KLCC Park from 70th floor, PETRONAS Twins Tower... but that's about it. I left without any regret, corporate world just a stop in my life journey. I am glad I've been there but I am belongs to where I am now:)

This brochure was designed conjunction with the  MLNG 25th Anniversary of 1st Cargo in  Japan.
Working with Beatrice Lye, the copywriter was such a wonderful experience, She writes beautiful things.
The Title says: What Does It Take...
What does it take to soar to greater height together?
What does it take to comprehend what people want and need?
What does it take to laugh and cry with each other?
What does it take to foster lasting friendships?
What does it take to stay loyal to each other?
What does it take to move ahead?

Busy Week:)

Going to have an extremely busy week, with submission of few design jobs. But having a workshop at the ending of week will become such the best peak for the week...

Happy Neighbourhood - Illustration Job
I have not created anything lately but focusing on my priority...Have few things in mind all need to transfer into physical thing, which mean I have to spare time to do it, unfortunately...I dun have much:(

I always mentioned to my student the design concept if you keep talking about it and never realize into physical form or visual is like a dream... ...Good to have a dream but if you keep dreaming it will never become a reality  but just simply an imagination. And it end up like nothing....LOL

YES another busy week...I am hoping the best for everything..same to all of you, Have a great week:) //syam

Quote of the Day

The sad truth is that there are some people who will only be there for you as long as you have something they need. When you no longer serve a purpose to them, they will leave. The good news is, if you tough it out, you’ll eventually weed these people out of your life and be left with some great people you can count on. We rarely lose friends and lovers, we just gradually figure out who our real ones are. So when people walk away from you, let them go. Your destiny is never tied to anyone who leaves you. It doesn’t mean they are bad people; it just means that their part in your story is over - marc&angel

Applied Design at Dasein

I am so nervous looking at their presentation until I forgot to capture some of the work. It takes me 4 days to digest, rewind back, strolling back at presentation day.As an overall, I am so proud of them, to look at the progress that they've made, squeezing time to finish up all the task.
Philip's work
Ah Dou presentation
Ah Dou artwork
Fin's artwork
I’ve learnt that two people can look at the exact same thing but absorb it differently. Same brief but different individual will approach it their own way. I hope they've  learnt to become more independent, be able to defend their design concept based on knowledge and research they had been through.
Dennis' artwork
Deep in my heart I hope they all will do well, pass with flying color. The progress the made was so different from one to another. The most important thing is they had tried their very best, to push the ability beyond boundary.

My beloved students
As a designer it was easy to become an average. But there are no shortcut to become great either. Such a long process, and this only the beginning, so much thing they could offer the world as long as they are willing to keep learning and to improve. Recognise own potential, weaknesses and strength.

I definitely will miss them deeply once the semester over:( ///syam

House kind of mess at this moment with drilling and hacking on porch side...I hate renovation, but we do need fence and neat tiles for the porch. Mr hubby are contributing money, so I don't have much say on the outcome. We both are so individual, when he talks is when I should keep quite. Will give a bit of trust on his judgement, while I have so much things in my plate at this moment .
So we will wait and see...

Few plants has been thrown away and that make me a bit sad:( I reluctant to throw it because each of them have a soft spot in my heart and green always keep my creativity afloat. Siggghhh tutup sebelah mata:(

I am excited too to see the final result from my Applied Design's class. Going to have internal presentation on Thursday, the peak of what I've been teaching them and to see the result from what they've learnt. Will capture pictures during the presentation and their final brand identity products. I can't tell how much I am proud of each of them.

Going to be a busy week as always...Have a great week folks///syam

Hand Bound Book

Latest book I've created.. I am so happy at last I managed to complete the task. These are made for a regular customer... that always order in big quantity from me for her personal use...Dato Noraini Ahmad:)

Using the hand silkscreen print, this batch of books are one off design, you might find the same design, but not exactly similar, because the making of silkscreen and the ink used will be different from one artwork to another.

And this is what make it so special...Spontaneous unexpected result:)

My craft journey kind of slow at this moment...I need to prioritize my time focusing on my graphic job that needs lots of thinking. But I will take a break in-between to run away from monotonous routine. Got few consignment order to send...And time to think of new products too.

I am looking forwards for two upcoming workshops, wanna learn how I bind like above?
