Quote of the Day:)

I always wanted a happy ending...
Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguityGilda Radner

What is Aqiqah?

Aqiqah, in Islamic terminology, is defined as sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child's birth.

The performance of Aqiqah is highly encouraged. It is to be performed by the parents or the guardians of the child. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions used to perform Aqiqah when they were bestowed with a newborn.

When Should Aqiqah be Performed?
The best time to perform Aqiqah is on the seventh day after the birth of the baby.

What is the Purpose of Aqiqah?
There are many benefits in the performance of Aqiqah. One is the announcing the birth of the baby.  Being bestowed a child is a great blessing from the Creator. Another purpose is inviting family members, neighbors, and friends to celebrate the blessed occasion. The poor should be included in the celebration by offering them food and meat served on this occasion.

LittleSyam Book Binding Workshop 5

I am so worried that rain has been pouring so heavily this morning...and I also worried if the students can't find their way to my home...and I am nervous if they will comfortable with my living room limited space, and if they are comfortable to sit on the stool...To know me someone that always worried with what happened if...

I met with batch of new students that have very interesting background, but have the same common passion towards art and craft. 6 participants this time, another 2 got to postponed to the next workshop because of last minute commitment that can't be avoided.
1) Christine Rowland
2) Boon
3) Cynthia
4) Kak Norzie
5) Vivian
6) Effa
7) Adrina - postponed
8) Cindy - postponed

Unfortunately I did not manage to take much photos.. maybe because I am worried too much...LOL
Will definitely share more photos tomorrow.

Wedding Card - TICK DONE

I used to design a wedding card for Nita long time ago, now she asking me again if I could design a simple wedding card for her brother in law. Olive green was a theme colour for the wedding.

This is how the card looks like after offset printing. I am happy with how the colour turns out
and the finish of textured beige colour paper used. Job delivered- TICK DONE:)

invitation card, tq tag etc

Helping out friend to design small little thing like this..make me happy:) Different feeling altogether compares to design a big stuff for a big client.

green, blue and brown...nice combination as per brief for baby boy Aryan.

vintage illustration

I been keeping this book that I found from Pay for Less Book Store for many years. The 1958 classic example of perfect binding cover, letter press with nice illustration. I am attracted to the visual illustrated by famous legendary illustrator such as Lawrence Beall Smith, Leornard Weisgard, Susanne Suba, Herman B. Vestal etc. I almost forgot that I am having this book until Syamil pointed out on the recent Gulliver's Travels movie starring by Jack Black.... He said " Ibu, this movie was adapted from Gulliver in Lilliput, but the plot has been modernised"... wow I never expected that he could noticed it, and the word modernise that came out from him kind of amaze me...

Here I would like to share the illustration, strictly came from a visual person:)

Lina pose with sling bag:)
Customised order for friend. These are collaboration work between me and Lina. Design was based on the iPad sling bag I made for Asri long time ago..but this one we enlarged the measurement to accomodate  iMac Book Air. Patchwork outer job was sewn by Lina...and the finishing for bag and inside inlay made of jeans fabric with additional 2 pocket by me..
